Barcelona, Spain! 2018 take me back

It’s a week and a half before vacation and you pull out your suitcase to pack. Haha just kidding your flight leaves in 5 hours and you haven’t even packed yet. If the latter is you then this post is for you. When it comes to packing I consider myself a bomb packer but super last minute. I will shop and have things in my head of what I want to wear but things never get together until about right before I’m supposed to leave (I’ll do better one day). Keep reading to hear my tips on maximizing your vacation wear.

Before you go!

If you google packing lists you will find a ton of articles saying carry x amount of pants, shoes, and x amount of tops...etc. I say scratch that. I am a risk taker when it comes to packing and I need to get these fits off lol. I am a carry-on girl so I have to be strategic in what I pack, all while not limiting myself too much. I like to keep in mind the below questions prior to packing.

  • What is the average temperature and climate for my trip?

  • What is the goal of the trip? ( sightseeing, on a beach, in a colder climate)

OK but what to pack?

There’s no right or wrong way to pack per say but I have some tried and true pieces that will allow you to maximize your wardrobe options. (feel free to click on the options to see what I would pick up)

  • The LBD or LBJ the little black jumpsuit or dress can be your savior. This item is easy to dress up with heels or down with sandals. If heading to a colder climate can easily be layered as a base with tights and boots option 1, option 2

  • The long over sized scarf No matter where I travel I always bring a scarf in a fun print. This can double as a blanket on the cold plane, a head wrap, a bathing suit cover up or even a top. I find that Gap, and stores like H&M make the perfect scarves. I literally carry mine on every trip. option 1, option 2

  • The button down I find that an over sized chambray button down or a simple crisp button down is ideal for most vacations. This can be a jacket, a dress, a cover up and you can wear it as is. option 1, option 2

  • The neutral basics a body suit, a solid plain t-shirt, and a silky basic top can give your fits versatility all while saving suitcase space. These pieces can be interchanged and think about this you could wear your button down buttoned up and throw on your silky top over it, pair it with some cute heeled sandals, a statement earring and boom a look! option 1, option 2, option 3, option 4

  • The go to dark wash jean I don’t care where you go, a pair of dark denim preferably in black can be your savior. Even if you are on a resort at night it can get cool by the water and you can dress up your jeans with your body suit (if running low on options) and you can travel to and from the airport in these jeans. option 1, option 2

  • The Accessory I go crazy in this department. Depending on where I am traveling I don’t like to be too flashy(DO YOUR RESEARCH)  but if I am somewhere tropical and confined to a resort I’m bringing out the tassels, fringe, and frills. Earrings are my favorite to bring as they don’t take up too much space. (tip: Carry your jewelry in your carry on) option 1, option 2

  • The shoes when it comes to vacation shoes I always wear my heaviest pair to the airport to maximize space. So if it is a colder climate i’ll be in chunky boots and if a beach trip i’ll be in my sneakers. I always like to carry at least one pair of sneakers for walking, excursions and more. And of course a pair or 3 of heels (I’m guilty). option 1, option 2

This sums up a few essentials to have in your suitcase for your next trip. Vacations are a time to have fun, show your personality, and to relax! Let me know your packing strategy in the comments?
